The candidate should have a qualification in Forestry and/or Horticulture as well as relevant experience in a similar role. Scottish Lowlands Forest District (SLFD) has approximately 5000ha of Woodlands In and Around Towns (WIAT). It is the intention of SLFD to bring these areas into productive management. This framework agreement is aimed at securing contractors who have or are prepared to invest in the skills, machinery and workforce to undertake woodland management in these high profile, sensitive and often complicated areas.

DIRECT PRODUCTION HARVESTING
TENTSMUIR FOREST, TAY FOREST DISTRICT

The Forestry Commission is inviting tenders for direct production harvesting in Tentsmuir Forest, Tay Forest District.

The majority of this work will comprise first thinning of pine stands affected by Dothistroma needle blight, removing a high proportion of stems to permit improved airflow. Some clearfelling of pine stands and first thinning of spruce stands will also be included in the contract.

The estimated total value of the contract is £400,000

The estimated contract volume is approximately 30,000m³obs (approximately 26,500 tonnes)

The anticipated contract start date will be 2nd April 2012 to be completed by 31st March 2014

The Chaldean Estate is seeking tenders from firewood processing teams able to process

initially 150 cu m of hardwood into 1 tonne bags, from a base approx. 10 km west of Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.

The work can be done between now and August 2012.

The quantity is likely to rise to 400 cu m in future years.

Forestry Manager

The Irish Forestry Unit Trust (IForUT) presently manages €170m of forest assets in Ireland & the UK and a further $40m of timberland assets in North America on behalf of Irish institutional investors.

Due to increasing business needs an additional in-house management support position has arisen to assist the executive team in the day to day management of the Trusts assets.

Role: To assist in the expansion of forest assets under management and to assist in the ongoing development of innovative and cost effective management processes that are FSC compliant.

Technical knowledge, skills & experience:
3rd level Forestry, GIS or Business qualification
Experience in forest planning, production forecasting and inventory
Working experience of FSC compliance
Key Competencies: Microsoft Excel/ Access
ArcMap
Electronic data collection and management

Typical Responsibilities:
Forest Management Plan preparation
Acquisition due-diligence reporting
Internal auditing of FSC compliance
Production forecasting and measurement
Operational reporting and analysis

Personal attributes:
Excellent analytical skills
Strong business and commercial awareness
Excellent interpersonal skills
The successful candidate will be expected to reside in the Munster/ Leinster region.
