We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who personally aims for excellence to be part of maintaining an environment to be proud of for future generations to enjoy. Duties range from tree harvesting works to plans for organising and protecting the woods. Managing the natural resources in the park, the successful candidate will be a hardworking individual who likes to spend much of their time working outside and is confi dent to work independently.

Applicants must have a chainsaw certifi cate (minimum CS30,31) and driving licence. Spraying certificates, climbing ticket (CS38/CS39) and previous experience
of operating forestry tractors and forwarding trailers would be a distinct advantage.

Forestry Consultant and Assistant Forester

Phytophthora Ramorum Infected Larch Harvesting South Wales

Forestry Commission Wales is looking for Expressions of Interest from harvesting contractors to fell approximately 100,000 tonnes of larch stands infected with Phytophthora Ramorum located in South Wales

Work will consist of felling by harvester or chainsaw, subsequent extraction and further processing. The felling work must be completed by 31st March 2011. Extraction and processing can continue beyond this deadline.

FORESTRY CONTRACTS MANAGER

We are a well established and highly respected independent business based near Banbury in Oxfordshire. The forestry department is based at our tree nursery, alongside our landscaping department.

We are seeking an experienced Forestry Contracts Manager who will play a key role in the continued development of our successful forestry business. You will need to be proficient in all aspects of woodland creation and lowland broadleaved woodland management. Work will include preparation of management plans and grant applications under the EWGS for farms and estates, together with the design and implementation of amenity tree planting schemes
often of high value. The role will incorporate the management of timber sales.

The ideal candidate must enjoy meeting new and existing clients in order to build on Nicholsons strong position in the market. You will need to be self motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills. The position requires a minimum of five years’ relevant experience, together with a degree in forestry.

The candidate should be proficient in all aspects of new woodland creation, established commercial and amenity woodland management and be able to advise on and manage all aspects of SRDP and alternative grant subsidies. Skills in digital mapping are also desirable.

The right candidate will have the opportunity to develop and build the forestry management and advice enterprise within the Highland Region and to add to the existing management portfolio and to the forestry team as required. Woodsman Required

Woodsman required to join our small forestry department to implement an intensive forest management programme and undertake a wide variety of forestry tasks across the 260ha/640acre mixed woodland Estate in North Wales.

Applicants should have a minimum of 1 years experience of woodland operations and forest machinery. Forestry-relevant qualification to a minimum of NPTC level 2 NVQ in Forestry or equivalent and NPTC certification in chainsaw and pesticide use. FMOC in forest machinery use an advantage, although training will be given.

Salary £15,000 to £17,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
