Forestry Journal and essentialARB
In 2008 Forest Machine Journal acquired the well known magazine, Forestry
& British Timber, which had been for sale for some time. The two
magazines have now been merged under the title Forestry Journal.
essentialARB was also purchased and is now available quarterly through
a separate subscription. Each month there are essentialARB supplement
pages within Forestry Journal to keep the continuity of information
for the arborist. Subscribers to Forestry Journal will receive it as
a free supplement for a limited period.
Forestry Journal aims to meet the requirements of all who work within
the forestry and arboricultural sector. There are, of course, many different
subdivisions to cater for, but every edition has many items of interest
to any reader. Along side the planned features list there are many interesting
an varied articles each month.
Forestry Journal is the only magazine for the industry that is widely
available to all through subscription. It covers all aspects of a very
diverse industry. A careful editorial balance ensures that every edition
includes articles on industry issues and developments alongside features
which cover the more hands on aspect of the industry.
In addition, Forestry Journal is also the best place to advertise your
situations vacant as it is read by people working in all aspects of
the industry. Of course, the best way to judge is to get a copy and
see for yourself... If you want one, just ask!

Answering
the Critics
Has the Forestry Commission lost its way?
The Editor challenged me: “We have to recognise that timber simply
won’t happen if all we concentrate on is car parks and cycle tracks,”
he said. I know it’s a widespread view: FC in England at least
has lost it – abandoned timber and gone over to the environment.
In his June leader David Sulman said, “FC has tried to be all
things to all men… which usually ends in tears.”.
Oak and
Stihl...go together like bread and butter
Reasonable parcels of standing oak are rarely offered in Mid-Wales
nowadays, and it has been my experience that when they are sold, even
when the timber quality is questionable, the price tends to be greater
than makes reasonable business sense.
Revesby
Estate
Woodland that pays for themselves without impacting on other estate
operations.
The Revesby Estate lies 12 miles north of Boston in Lincolnshire. Once
a monastic estate, the abbey sat atop the first hill from the sea, overlooking
11,000 acres of fen, farm and wooded land. Following Henry VIII’s
dissolution of the monasteries (1536–41), the abbey was redesignated
a country estate and purchased in 1715 by the greatgreat- grandfather
of naturalist Sir Joseph Banks, founder of Kew Gardens and funder of
(and shipmate aboard) Captain James Cook’s first circumnavigation
of the globe
(1768–1771).
High Flyer
Aerial mapping the easy way
For most people the term ‘UAS’ is unfamiliar. To us it’s
an unmanned aircraft system, very much a tool of our trade and now proving
to be a worthy forestry tool too.

Why
advertise with Forestry Journal and essentialARB?
The typical Forestry Journal and essentialARB reader subscribes because
he regularly needs to buy equipment to carry out the tasks in which
he is involved on a day-to-day basis. Typically he does not subscribe
to any other industry magazine.
Forestry Journal and essentialARB is the magazine for the Forest &
British Timber Industry. This means that if your company’s name
has never appeared in Forestry Journal or essentialARB, there is no
chance of him even considering you when he comes to make a buying decision.
To advertise, even occasionally, will get your product onto his short-list.
Subscriptions from government agencies, local authorities, membership
organisations, colleges and universities, as well as contractors and
forestry workers, mean you reach more people, who buy equipment and
services, through FJ and essentialARB than any other medium. Profit
from the success of the most widely read forestry magazine.

Forestry Journal and essentialARB are the number one choice of people
who make their living from our industry.
Forestry Journal and
essentialARB are widely acknowledged as an authoritative and up-to-date-source
of news on the politics of forestry.
Forestry Journal and
essentialARB are the only forestry magazine with a designated Arb /
Amenity section every month
