Contributor

Dave Hamill is a forester and arborist with almost 30 years' professional experience. Graduating from Ulster University as an Environmental scientist in 2013, he has a strong ecocentric focus toward his work and private life. Having occupied many roles over his career, from climber to consultant, utility line clearance contracts to work in arboretums and botanical gardens at home and overseas, Dave is currently a forestry and arb skills instructor living on the North coast of Ireland. A past tree climbing competitor at ITCC events, he now enjoys helping out at annual competitions on Ireland, with set up, judging duties etc, taking part in a community of climbers and like-minded tree enthusiasts has been hugely influential to the development of his career and interest in veteran tree management. Still to be found occasionally taking on big tree dismantles around Ireland as a freelance climber, Dave says he would much rather climb trees with a measuring tape than a chainsaw.
