The following best-selling products give high performance, easy handling and safety factors – a winning combination which has been developed over 200 years of Marlow’s technical engineering excellence. All designed and manufactured in the UK.

VEGA
The best-selling Vega climbing rope was launched in November 2017. Since the launch, this rope is yet to be rivalled, with currently the lowest elongation on the market at 1.2 per cent. Designed specifically for the new generation of mechanical climbing devices and modern climbing techniques, it is compatible with all the leading hardware, including the zig-zag. Available both spliced and non-spliced, this polyester rope gives exceptional flexibility and handling without compromising on durability.

GECKO & KOMODO
Designed as traditional 13 mm climbing ropes for double rope technique, the tough and durable 16 plait polyester cover makes the rope supple and hardwearing, ideal for use with friction hitches.

VENOM
This lightweight 11.8 mm arborist climbing line has been designed for the new generation of mechanical climbing devices and modern climbing techniques. The braided nylon core gives exceptional flexibility and handling.

ACCESSORY CORDS
Marlow’s range of accessory cords are ideal kit additions and include the hardwearing 16 plait polyester Boa cord, great for use as a Prusik and other friction hitches offering easy knot tying and good grip. The Viper cord is a Vectran/polyester blend designed for use as a high-performing friction cord where heat generation is an issue. The high melting point of Vectran prolongs the working life of the cord in tough or heavy use conditions.

WIRECORE FLIPLINE
Marlow’s fliplines are CE-certified work positioning lanyards made using flexible and strong galvanised steel wire and a tough polyester cover.

THROWLINE
Marlow offers a standard throwline with a smooth and hardwearing polyester cover, in addition to a Dyneema throwline which offers easier handling and higher breaking strength.  Dyneema throwline is over three times as strong as the standard throwline whilst being 12 per cent lighter.

EDELRID

Forestry Journal:

TREE CORE TRIPLE LOCK climbing harness:
The Tree Core is a lightweight, functional harness developed specifically for the arboricultural market. It has a plethora of features that without a doubt make it one of the most capable harnesses on the market today.

Key features include:

  • Two Easy Glider buckles on the hips for symmetrical adjustment
  • Ergonomically cut removable padding for excellent wear comfort and freedom of movement
  • 4 textile side eyelets, with 2 removable aluminium Screw Gate D-rings according to EN 358
  • Adjustable Sliding D-Kit increases freedom of movement
  • Leg loops can be adjusted and fully opened thanks to EDELRID’s Triple Lock buckles
  • Central, textile tie-in eyelet according to EN 813
  • Lightweight at only 1.48 kg

WEBLINK ROPE TERMINATION:

Edelrid is known for its expertise in the design and creation of high quality rope.
The Weblink termination is the slimmest rope termination available on the market today. Instead of folding the rope back on itself as with a normal sewn termination, we have stitched a small length of tape to the rope and covered this with a removable abrasion protector.

Key features include:

  • Available on our Arb specific rope the X-P*e 12.3 mm
  • Same breaking strength as a standard sewn termination (15 kN)
  • Easier to thread through a cambium saver than a standard sewn termination
  • Inspection window in the abrasion protector allows the user to ensure the carabiner is threaded correctly
  • Removable abrasion protector allows for easy inspection of the termination

TALON CLIMBING SPIKES:

One of the lightest and most comfortable sets of spikes on the market!

The Talons are fully modular, meaning all parts are replaceable. They also have a huge range of adjustment, allowing them to fit virtually any leg shape. Despite the large range of adjustability, they are extremely comfortable thanks to the 3D shaped padding.

Key features include:

  • Lightweight, yet durable steel construction
  • Ventilated mesh on the padding for better breathability
  • Outer frame made from recycled plastic
  • ASTM F887-16 conformity
  • Three directional adjustment system on the lower binding for perfect fitment to a boot
  • All textile parts easy to remove and clean, as well as to replace when they become worn out
  • Available with both short and long gaff (43 mm & 70 mm)
  • Lightweight at only 2.5 kg per pair

PETZL

Forestry Journal:

NEW for 2019, Petzl’s SEQUOIA harnesses have been specifically designed for arborists. The harnesses are said to ensure great mobility in the tree and optimally distribute the load between the waist belt and the leg loops. They are also described as offering excellent lumbar support in the many work phases where the arborist has their weight on the harness.

COMFORT

The semi-rigid, extra-wide waist belt ensures excellent support for the user. It is also sculpted and lined with foam padding for improved comfort when suspended.

ERGONOMICS

Gated attachment points

The gated attachment points facilitate connection of a ZILLION or MICROFLIP lanyard. They also allow installation of several attachment bridges (adjustable or fixed), as well as accessories like RING attachment rings or SWIVELs, directly on the attachment bridge.

Easy to don

The leg loops of SEQUOIA harnesses are equipped with FAST/FAST LT automatic buckles that facilitate donning the harness with feet on the ground or with large footwear, without loss of adjustment, even when wearing gloves.

For single rope ascent techniques, the SEQUOIA SRT features a ventral attachment point for installing a zig-zag mechanical Prusik with CHICANE and KNEE ASCENT accessories. It is equipped with DOUBLEBACK PLUS self-locking buckles on the waist belt and FAST LT PLUS automatic buckles on the leg loops. The harness also facilitates the carrying and organising of work tools, with multiple equipment loops and retainers for attaching CARITOOL tool holders.

For double rope ascent techniques, the SEQUOIA harness waist belt is equipped with a FAST automatic buckle for quick and simple opening and closing, without loss of adjustment. The leg loops have FAST LT PLUS automatic buckles. The gated attachment points allow the user to easily connect a ZILLON or MICROFLIP lanyard, or to install several attachment bridges and accessories directly on the bridge. The harness also facilitates the carrying and organising of work tools, with multiple equipment loops and retainers.

A variety of new accessories are also available for the SEQUOIA line. Shoulder straps for the SEQUOIA SRT are designed to take the load from the waist belt and redistribute it to the shoulders for improved comfort. The straps connect to the ventral attachment point of the harness and to the two slots to the rear of the waist belt.

A wide seat provides a comfortable working position during suspension, with an adjustable width to reduce the bulk and facilitate movement within the tree. It connects to the two gated points on the SEQUOIA and SEQUOIA SRT arborist seat harnesses, using the two shackles.
An attachment bridge for connection to the two gated attachment points of the SEQUOIA and SEQUOIA SRT arborist seat harnesses optimise lateral mobility.
