Forestry Journal are seeking to appoint an assistant editor to oversee all works across its two magazine titles, Forestry Journal and essentialARB. Based in either our Glasgow or Dumfries office the successful candidate will play key role in the production of these titles, from initiation to publication, writing original content and commissioning, adapting and editing content produced by freelance contributors and external parties.
We are looking for a candidate who ideally has relevant leadership and editorial experience, with an understanding of the rapidly changing print and digital markets. You will be a strong team player, with the experience and people skills required to engage with a wide variety of personnel from chainsaw workers to government ministers.
The successful candidate will be flexible, able to work hard as part of a small but very focused team and be confident in managing and directing contributors in line with our key brand objectives and content values. A knowledge and understanding of all aspects of forestry and arboriculture, from machinery to the politics of land use, although not essential, would be advantageous.
A full driving licence is preferred as attending and reporting on events, seminars and meetings will, on occasion, be a requirement of the position.
