The Windsor Estate covers approximately 6,400 hectares (15,800 acres) and includes Windsor Great Park, the Home Park of Windsor Castle, and Swinley Forest. Windsor is the only Royal Park & Forest managed by The Crown Estate.

Reporting to the Deputy Ranger, this is a high profile role responsible for the management of 3200 hectares of sustainable multi-purpose forest. Maximising returns whilst balancing the Estate’s heritage and conservation responsibilities is central to this role. The successful candidate will lead the Forestry and Arboriculture teams to deliver and sustain high levels of productivity, quality and exceptional customer service to the wider Estate.

The Windsor Estate is a part of The Crown Estate, a £14bn real estate business specialising in commercial property in central London, prime regional retail and offshore wind. It also has a substantial rural and coastal portfolio and manages the seabed around England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Working collaboratively as a member of the senior management team you will demonstrate strong leadership abilities as well as strong financial management and delivery capability. Meticulous attention to detail is essential as are good organisational and project management skills and the ability to balance priorities. Commercially driven and astute you will have a track record of managing a large multipurpose forest including diverse silvicultural techniques, wildlife management, public access rights, recreation and events. Previous experience of arboriculture and environmental conservation including managing ancient woodlands, veteran trees and lowland heath is essential as is knowledge of tree safety systems, inspection and arboricultural practice. Full membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters is essential.
