JOHN Deere has announced the launch of the H424 harvester head, which will replace its H414 model.

The redesigned H424 is based on customer feedback, with the aim of improving productivity, ease of service, durability, uptime and measuring accuracy, and reducing daily operating costs.

Described as a medium-size harvester head designed for later thinning and final felling where the tree diameter at chest height is 150–430 mm, it is also said to be well suited for handling crooked wood and working on slopes. The harvester head’s robust structure, improved hose routing and easy access to service points have convinced customers, John Deere says.

The H424 is also equipped with the new SuperCut 100S saw unit, which features a new chain-tensioning unit, automatic chain tensioning, and mechanical bar locking, while an improved chain release is said to make it easier to replace the saw chain.

The H424 harvester head is available for John Deere 1070G, 1170G and 1270G harvesters.
