DONALD Trump has announced that the United States will join the Trillion Trees initiative launched on the first day of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The US President made the announcement during a keynote address to global business leaders at the annual event, which has chosen sustainability as its main theme.
President Trump said the US “will continue to show strong leadership in restoring, growing and better managing our trees and our forests”.
The Trillion Trees initiative, a joint venture by the Wildlife Conservation Society, World Wildlife Fund and BirdLife International, calls for one trillion trees to be regrown, saved from loss and better protected around the world by 2050 through ending deforestation, improving protection and advancing restoration.
