A new service intended to unite landowners looking sell woodland-generated carbon units with companies looking to offset their carbon emissions has launched.

The objective of CarbonStore is to provide a 'unique' woodland-based carbon offsetting service, based on its partnerships and the benefits it offers clients.

Working in partnership with CarbonStore are Maelor Forest Nurseries and Tilhill – both of which are owned by UK forestry giant, BSW Group.

It is through these associations that those looking to enter the fast-moving carbon sequestration market now have a highly experienced company to turn to, CarbonStore said.

The CarbonStore website will also allow landowners to openly market their woodland carbon online.

The CarbonStore Team is led by David McCulloch, who has a BSc (Hons) in Accounting, Finance and Economics and 18 years’ experience in the financial sector based in London and Tokyo, initially as an equity salesman and latterly as a corporate analyst.

David is supported by Andy Baker MICFor, who has a BSc (Hons) in Ecology and Environmental Science and gained his wide-ranging forestry experience within Tilhill, with carbon sequestration having been the driver of his forestry career. Andy also represents the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) on the Woodland Carbon Code Advisory Board.
