WHEN the doors open at NEC Birmingham in the first week of November for the Saltex sports, amenities and landscaping trade exhibition, direct sales specialist Spaldings will showcase its comprehensive replacement and wearing parts service provided to key organisations in the groundscare sector.

The company’s range includes replacement parts for professional cylinder, rotary and flail mowers, blades for turf cutters and wood chippers, soil-engaging parts for corers and slitters, and many other wearing components for leading makes of grounds maintenance equipment, as well as consumables for machine and engine servicing and maintenance.

The highest priority is given to customer service – in terms of easy product selection, comprehensive stocks and rapid delivery, as well as a choice of ordering options that continue to include a dedicated Spaldings Groundcare salesforce in an increasingly digital world.

Steve Constable, Spaldings managing director, said: “While a growing number of customers now order online or via our telesales team, many of the local authorities, direct labour organisations, independent contractors, sports clubs, private schools and colleges we supply appreciate regular face-to-face contact.

“It provides opportunities for advice and information on the groundcare sector products and parts we supply, and also for monthly stock management for the larger customers who hold parts on an impressed or consignment basis.

“Relationships are so important, perhaps even more so after the experiences of the past 18 months, and these Spaldings customers really value the knowledge and expertise of our on-the-ground sales team.”

In addition to parts, the company also supplies groundcare equipment nationally – or as a Lincoln area dealership for selected products – from leading manufacturers such as Honda Lawn & Garden, Honda Industrial (including generators and water pumps), Husqvarna and Stihl with return-to-base service and repairs support available.

One area of growing importance is that of more sustainable products for grounds maintenance operations, especially as organisations work towards carbon neutrality goals, as Steve Constable explained.

He said: “For example, we’ve been working with a number of local authorities on how the professional battery-powered Husqvarna and Stihl hand tools we supply and service can provide emissions-free operation at the point of use across a range of applications.

“The performance, durability and running time capabilities of hand tools such as chain saws, hedge trimmers, pole pruners and pedestrian mowers offer opportunities for groundcare operations to make a contribution to carbon neutrality.”
