GERMAN outdoor equipment manufacturer Kärcher Professional has launched a new range of professional landscape management (PLM) tools, designed to meet the needs of heavy users.

The new range has been designed to complement a number of Kärcher’s core target groups, including public services, building service contractors, facility management companies and agriculture.

“The PLM range features the power and performance of professional grade equipment, the convenience and flexibility of battery, and the reliability and attention to detail for which Kärcher is known all over the world,” explained Daniel Took, head of professional product marketing at Kärcher.

Of particular interest to arborists will be Kärcher’s 36 V professional chainsaw, which features a 400 mm bar length, 23 m/s chain speed, 0.375-inch chain pitch, 0.050-inch chain gauge, and a weight of 4.0 kg without bar, chain, oil and battery.

“The chainsaw has a high cuttings and speed performance, is perfectly balanced and low in vibration with a robust construction to withstand the toughest environments,” said Daniel.

“Using a battery-powered chainsaw is the same as using a petrol one. With like-for-like performance versus similar petrol models but with the benefit of reduced noise, zero exhaust emissions and lower hand-arm vibrations – all of which make using a battery-powered chainsaw more comfortable for the user.”

Other tools in the PLM range include a pole chainsaw for lopping off branches at ground level; a hedge-trimmer, featuring diamond-ground blades with a 2-stage cutting speed for shaping and cutting, anti-blocking system and comfortable carrying system; a leaf blower and leaf blower backpack; a lawnmower featuring a steel mowing deck, ball-bearing wheels and intelligent automated cutting speed; a line trimmer with variable speed, a lightweight power pack and low vibration; a multitool, compatible with the hedge-trimmer and chainsaw attachments; and a pole hedge-trimmer with a 180-degree rotatable blade.

The range is also part of the manufacturer’s Professional Battery Universe, which is designed to offer easy battery transition from one product to another. Daniel explained: “We see excellent opportunities for certain applications with rechargeable batteries and the advantages that this technology brings, such as flexibility, efficiency and protection of the user and environment (from exhaust gases, noise, and disturbing vibrations).

“It is a USP for this range, and works across numerous Kärcher products. Features include a waterproof battery pack and real-time LC-display of charge level, remaining running and charge times, device temperature, and battery health. It also has a useful automatic storage mode, which protects the battery while being stored.

“Efficient temperature management ensures that cell warming is reduced, so that the battery does not need to switch off during demanding tasks and the battery housing is constructed from polyamide for shock resistance and extreme mechanical robustness.”

Daniel said that feedback from Kärcher’s long-standing independent dealer network and end users has been very positive. He added: “The opportunity for the dealer network to align professional landscape management equipment with traditional Kärcher products is a win-win. It will provide the dealers with an added revenue stream to their businesses from a trusted reputable brand well known throughout the world.”
