Role Purpose
The Forest Operations Team are responsible for the planning and delivery of NRWs annual harvesting and re-stocking Programmes for the area. Delivery of these Programmes contributes to NRWs annual income target. The Team works closely with external contractors and timber processing companies to ensure that these plans are delivered to time and in line with their associated contracts. The Officer will play a key part in managing contracts, working with customers, contractors and other NRW Operational Teams to ensure their completion. The role is a mix of office-based work and site visits to prepare and then to manage live contracts, The role supports site supervisors on active harvesting and re-stocking contracts.

Some out of hours rota cover is required. Some out of hours working may be required should there be a need to respond to unforeseen incidents on site.

Role Purpose
• Support technical advice for specific sector or technical issues.
• Implementation of team work plans, and delivery of agreed actions to contribute to business planning.
• Participate in NRW technical or represent NRW on external forums as a technical representative.
• Interact with peers in NRW to promote consistent industry and specialist subject practices.
• Have responsibility for direct delivery of delegated programmes and agreed delegated budgetary control, including all relevant compliance and adhering to procurement process
Incident Response requirements: Required to take part in incident response activities

Qualifications and Skills
1. Experience of working across a wide range of land management disciplines.
2. Knowledge of sustainable forest management, UKWAS and forest certification schemes.
3. Experience of community liaison and public engagement activities.
4. Knowledge and experience of designated sites, and all aspects of forest practise, including land liabilities, forest planning and forest operations.
