FORESTER

(Full-time, permanent)

Roxburghe Estate is centred around Floors Castle near Kelso in the Scottish Borders.

As part of succession planning within our forestry department we are recruiting an experienced Forester to help manage the Estates 1400 ha of commercial and amenity woodlands.

The Estate is actively creating new woodlands across our land and aspire to increase this area of the business in future.

Working in a small team and reporting to the Forest Manager, the successful candidate will carry out a wide range of forestry and estate work including;

• Tree and hedge planting and maintenance work within the woodlands and estate farms.
• Ground level supervision of contractors who are employed to carry out work in the woodlands. This will be harvesting, establishment and maintenance work.
• Surveying and assessing the condition of roadside trees.
• Identify and plan work required in the woodlands.
• Risk assessments for planned work.

It is envisaged the successful applicant will have at least 5 years working experience in forestry, NVQ Level 2 in Forestry and will have a good understanding of planting, establishing and maintaining trees and timber harvesting operations.
