FORESTRY DIVISION MANAGER

The Armstrong Group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced forest manager to join our team to lead and develop its forestry and biomass business with a period of handover from the current Forestry Division Manager prior to his retirement.

In this role you will be responsible for managing existing contracts for forestry ground preparation works throughout south-west Scotland involving our fleet of forestry excavators, primarily for FLS but also with private sector clients. This requires excellent client-facing and logistical skills. In addition, you will be responsible for the administration of the 1.8MW biomass boiler installation at our Dalbeattie site and submitting returns as required to Ofgem and BSL.

Whilst the Group’s forestry business is currently focused on excavator ground prep, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the abilities and ambition to develop a forestry establishment and management service from a sound, core business base. The biomass plant currently produces dried woodchip for sale into that market, but the Dalbeattie site offers the potential to develop markets for other processed forestry and sawmill products/co-products.

The position requires self-motivation, good IT and communication skills, and a full driving licence. Applicants will be required to hold relevant academic qualifications or be able to demonstrate a proven track record of relevant forestry management experience. Ideally, candidates will be Chartered or working towards Chartered status.

A salary of £45,000 to £50,000 with company vehicle, pension scheme and other benefits is available to the right candidate.
