HEAD OF FORESTRY AND GROUNDS

A rare opportunity to take a leading role as Head of Forestry and Grounds on the Swinton Estate, a multi-enterprise business covering over 20,000 acres of mixed arable and livestock farming, parkland, moor and 1650 acres of mixed upland and lowland forestry close to the market town of Masham, North Yorkshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity to influence the long-term woodland strategy, to maximise value, and improve biodiversity and environmental benefits, on this progressive Estate.

Responsibilities will include the implementation of the Estate’s Business Plan for the Forestry and Grounds department which will involve planning new plantations and carbon offsetting land management schemes, the management of the Grade II listed park and grounds, including a small deer herd, as well as implementing Health and Safety policies across the wider business.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the countryside, silviculture, woodland management and grant schemes. You will be a practical, energetic and physical person, a team leader, able to motivate others and communicate at all levels.
