About us:
Coombes Forestry is the South of England’s leading Arboricultural and Forestry Contractor who own their own large array of the very latest forestry plant and machinery. With well over a decade of experience and expertise in the forestry sector, we have forged a strong industry reputation and we believe we have an unrivalled skill set and peerless knowledge of forestry work at all levels.
We have recently seen significant growth and currently have some exciting projects underway in woodland management, timber harvesting and establishment, across the country. We are looking for a new Operations Forester to learn the ropes and help us provide a service that is second to none.
Coombes is a family-run SME, where we value integrity, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, pride in our work and working together as one team to give our clients the best possible service. If this sounds like you, please reach out to us – we’d love to hear from you.
About the vacancy:
Coombes requires an Operations Forester to join our busy forestry team on a full-time basis, to grow with the Company. The successful applicant will assist in the planning, management and reporting of all our forestry operations. This includes several significant timber harvesting contracts but will also include other work such as roading and reinstatement.
The role will require you to manage operations and plan logistics of our works, utilising GIS where required, to establish resources, site layout, constraints and features. It is essential therefore that you have strong planning and logistical skills with experience in the forestry industry. An excellent and confident communicator, you will also effectively coordinate, direct and supervise a team of operators in the delivery of works.
Significant experience using MS Excel is essential, as the Operations Forester will be required to monitor and manage contract progress and production rates, as well as provide weekly reports/profiles to our customers.
Whilst this role is based at our offices in Petersfield, you will frequently be on site in woodlands across the south-central area of England. The successful candidate must therefore have a full driving licence and be happy to work in all that the British weather has to offer!
You will be self-motivated and have an excellent working knowledge of Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety standards. Qualification/s in a related subject is desirable, but Coombes is committed to providing training and professional development to support your career in the forestry industry.
Working hours: 42.5 hours per week, to be worked Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:00pm with 1hr unpaid break each day.
Salary: £28-32,000 + vehicle provided for business use.
