DIO is currently looking for a full time Regional Forester to provide expert advice and guidance to all customers with regards to all matters pertaining to forestry and arboriculture.

To lead on the preparation, delivery and monitoring of Strategic Long Term Forestry Plans for all the Ministry of Defence (MoD) estate.

To provide customers with Subject Matter Expert advice and to be point of contact for statutory and legal compliance.

To monitor and assure all industry partners and users of the estate to ensure industry best practice, legal and statutory compliance.

To lead on innovative forestry and specific arboricultural projects that fulfils the military requirement and benefits defence, wider government and society at large.

To engage with all stakeholders both internally and externally to demonstrate effective stewardship and to ensure an estate of the right size and quality to meet defence objectives. This will include fostering proactive relations balanced against ensuring a continuing operational effectiveness for MoD activities on the estate.

Other main tasks of the role will include support to the Senior Forester on strategic forestry projects including bio security, woodland creation and climate change resilience of the MOD woodland and tree resource.

The Regional Forester will also be expected to provide all customers with quality assurance and specialist advice pertaining to forestry and arboricultural matters including health and safety. There will also be an element of assisting in the preparation of Parliamentary Questions, Freedom of Information requests, and all other public enquiries.

Desirable Memberships
A Member/Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or a professional member of the Arboriculture Association.
