Support Sustainable Forest Management worldwide with Soil Association Forestry

About our organisation

The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues in isolation.

About the opportunity

The Forestry team is mainly based in Bristol, UK but has staff and representatives based in Europe too. We are a friendly tight knit team who help each other out and often work across several portfolios. We deliver market assurance of responsible forest management, forest product supply chains and environmental carbon.

We are responsible for FSC and PEFC certification activities in over 65 countries for Forestry management and Chain of Custody. This means there are loads of challenges, rewards and opportunities. Your work may be engaging with stakeholders in Australia one day, and planning forest management audits in Chile the next.

As the Regulatory Woodland Officer for Mid Wales, you'll be responsible for assessing felling permissions against UK Forest Standard, or investigating offences under the Forestry Act. You must be a good organiser and able to prioritise work.

Much of the work is office based but with opportunity for travel under normal circumstances.

About you

You will have:

• Experience in forestry and certification
• Experience in auditing

You will be:

• Inquisitive and interested
• Pragmatic and fair
• Comfortable with standards and QMS systems
• Great with people
• Comfortable leading a team or being in charge of a room.

Interviews are expected to take place: online, week commencing 25th January 2021
