Job Description

The post holder will lead on the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and well-being by co-producing the Area Statement, integrating planning, and enabling implementation through outward funding for the place across the functions of NRW.


Working closely with the Team Leader, Land and Assets Teams; Environment Teams, and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities for co-delivering Forest Resource Planning, Area Statement and PSB objectives.


You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of the following:

• Excellent skills in engagement, influencing, developing innovative approaches to complex problems
• Excellent at building effective working relationship with colleagues and partners.
• Significant knowledge of the requirements of environmental legislation relating to the place remit

• You will have specialist knowledge of one or more technical areas of the team’s remit:
o Area Statement development
o Public Service Boards & Wellbeing planning
o Outward funding & Partnership working
o Recreation & Access
o Forest Use or Planning
o Fisheries strategic planning
o Conservation of Protected sites & landscapes,
o National Nature Reserves planning
o Air quality impact assessment
o Water resource management
o WFD & catchment planning
o Flood risk management

• Ability to assess multiple, complex, sources of information and engage others in making good decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer focus
• Experience of negotiating with senior managers
• Experience of influencing at senior level of organisations.
• Excellent at building effective working relationships with colleagues and partners.
• Excellent organisational skills
• Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or the ability to achieve this in 3 years.
• Significant knowledge of sustainable forest management, UKWAS and forest certification schemes
