DOES your colleague represent all that's good in arboriculture? Do they deserve recognition beyond your team? Well, now you have the chance to put them into the spotlight.

Nominations are open for 2024's Arboricultural Association Awards, which celebrate arborists who go above and beyond in tree care.

Handed out since 1974, the Arboricultural Association Award is the main prize, presented to recognise significant contributions of an individual to the arboricultural industry or profession. Chris Knapman and Jill Butler are among recent winners.

Speaking after claiming his award in 2023, Chris said: "We wouldn’t have a civilization without trees, full stop.

"We really do need to look after them and the Arboricultural Association is hence very important in that and I think doing great work now to really push the importance of trees. I’m really pleased with the way the Association is going and how inclusive it is to all sorts of new ideas.”

Elsewhere, Best Student of the Year and Young Arboricultural Professional of the Year (both introduced in 2021) seek to mark the passion and drive of students taking their first steps and the young professionals already making a difference in the arb industry.
