As an Area Timber Buyer, you will be responsible for managing a team of experienced Harvesting and Contract Managers and overseeing the purchasing of timber within your area.

Specifically, some responsibilities of an Area Timber Buyer include:
• Overseeing the management of H&S and Environmental issues on sites.
• Procurement of standing and roadside timber through tendering and negotiation.
• Sourcing and negotiating with harvesting and haulage contractors.
• Manage full supply chain from forest to customer.
• Manage customer supply and relationships.
• Develop and maintain solid relationships across the supply chain.

About you

Already an experienced Harvesting Manager/Timber Buyer within the Forestry sector or a similar industry/profession, you’ll have a wealth of experience dealing with timber transactions, in a timely and efficient manner. A motivated, driven, and flexible approach comes naturally to you. In addition, you’ll have:
• Extensive experience working within commercial forestry.
• A high attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work alone and as part of a team.
• Relevant academic qualifications, although other qualifications will be considered.
• A high level of attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
• Good computer skills across all Microsoft programmes.
• Full driving licence.
