ASSISTANT WILDLIFE MANAGER

Based: Eskdale & Teviot Area (Jedburgh office)

We have an exciting opportunity for you to be a key member of our Forestry team in the role of Assistant Wildlife Manager.

In this role you will support and assist the Wildlife Managers with the implementation of optimum methods of crop protection and wildlife management, including deer culling and larder work. You would provide support and advice to forestry management staff on general wildlife matters relating to the forest environment whilst representing and promoting the Company’s environmental image and standard.

Other key elements of the role include: nearest neighbour (NN) browsing assessments, indirect population assessments, breeding bird and mammal surveys, pre-operational site checks and associated reporting where required.

A strong ethos relating to Health & Safety in the workplace is essential.

In addition to this, ideally, you’ll have:

• Relevant academic qualifications in wildlife management, ecology, environment or other land-based discipline.
• Deer Stalking Certificate Levels 1 & 2..
• Firearms Certificate..
• Good working knowledge of best practice relating to wildlife conservation, deer control and environmental legislation..
• Strong commercial acumen & at least 2 years’ operational experience..
• Strong client relationship management skills..
• Full driving licence.
