CONTRACTS SUPERVISOR

The Position
We are looking for a Contracts Supervisor to join our team who will contribute to our continued success, share our enthusiasm and drive while helping to define the future of the business and their own created self. The role requires a self-motivated individual who has an ability to build relationships at all levels to supervise contracts in Cumbria and Lancashire. A commercial outlook and an ability to work as part of a team is required, together with a keen interest in timber harvesting.


The Company
Euroforest is the largest independent timber harvesting & marketing company in the UK. We harvest and market in excess of 2.7 million m³ of sustainable timber per annum, in partnership with our group companies. Euroforest has grown significantly over the past couple of years, now with over 70 staff across England, Scotland and Wales and 150 employees across the group.


Key Responsibilities
• Ensure all specifications are being produced as directed by the Area Manager.
• Organise and supervise the harvesting, marketing and haulage of timber.
• Liaise with the area manager, direct staff and contractors, to ensure contract run efficiently.
• Liaise with colleagues, clients and landowners.
• Making regular site inspection to ensure work is on track and undertaking regular safety audits.
• Monitoring harvester progress, to ensure contracts are performing against the agreed budget.
• Supervise other forest workers.
• Planning and managing jobs to ensure they comply with Health, Safety and Environmental Guidelines.
• Monitor the application of HSE, FISA and ISO 45001 standards on site visits and promote good practice.

• Ability to collect, input and report on data.
• Forward thinking and the ability to take ownership of tasks.
• Risk management in line with company and industry standards.
• Decision making, ability to problem solve and use initiative.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
• Sound understanding of timber mensuration and tools used.
• Be familiar with recognised timber purchasing methods.
• Demonstrable knowledge of HSE, FISA, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Standards.
• Demonstrable understanding of the licence system, Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification and FSC Chain of Custody Certification


Past experience in forestry is desirable but not necessary. New candidates can benefit from our in-house training and support platforms.


Desirable Skills
• Applicants should ideally hold a land-based qualification or have relevant operational experience.
• A current UK driving licence is required.
• A demonstrable interest in forestry and the harvesting sector


Additional Information
The role is a full-time permanent position, Monday – Friday.
