GreenGold is present in 7 EU countries and is the process of growing its asset base. We are looking to further our growth in the UK, with focus on Scotland, and are therefore looking for a new colleague who is ready to be challenged and to be a part of our team.

Role Objective

We are looking for a Forest Manager, who will be responsible for practical management of our forests. As we are growing, the Forest Manager will have to deal with a constantly moving target and happy to use his/her entrepreneurial skills in order to deliver the set budgets and returns, as well as to manage our forests to the highest standard.

The Forest Manager will report to the Director of GGT1.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring our forests are run effectively and efficiently, while ensuring best practices for sustainable forest management, environmental protection, and health and safety are being followed at all times.
• Help us find higher business use of our forests where relevant, including renewables development opportunities.
• Procure and monitor harvesting services looking to deliver optimal cash returns from our forests.
• Procure and monitor other services such as e.g. soil preparation and planting, looking to ensure optimal quality of service at the right cost.
• Always look to think out of the box in order to find better optimization of the value and processes in our forest management.
• Will cover the whole of Scotland and will have to visit our forests regularly.

Skills and Experience

• Forestry qualified. Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience of forest management including contractor management.
• Experience of timber marketing.
• GIS and Excel capable.
• Ready to travel regularly.
• Drivers’ Licence.
