FORESTRY MANAGER/TRAINEE MANAGER


Treeline Woodlands Ltd is a family run company based South of Edinburgh. We have been operating for 30 years, and have a broad base of clients in the Scottish Borders, Lothians and Central Belt. We offer a comprehensive range of forestry services, all of which are centred around the core business of Woodland/Forestry Management.

Due to business growth, we have a new position for a Forestry Manager, although a Trainee with high levels of motivation and relevant skills would be considered. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, flexible, and able to work as part of a team, assuming responsibility for a variety of tasks. A practical approach to problem solving is essential.

The Job
• Prepare plans, maps and budgets for planting schemes and/or thinning contracts.
• Liaise with Forestry Commission over planting schemes, felling permissions, etc.
• Carry out beat-up surveys, assess maintenance works required. Re-visit previous jobs to assess any ongoing work and report back.
• Set up follow-up system to ensure continuity post contracts.
• Arrange uplift of timber from thinning and felling operations.
• Communicate and meet with clients, contractors and hauliers.
• Work together with other team members.


Requirements
• Previous experience in the sector.
• A recognised forestry qualification or relevant practical background.
• A clean UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of FGS, Felling Permissions, etc.
• Competent IT skills.
• Knowledge of Digital mapping.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• High level of verbal and written communication.
