The Confederation of Forest Industries (Confor) is the UK representative body for the forestry and wood processing sector.

Planting more trees and promoting an increasing use of wood-based products will play an ever more important role in tackling climate change and contributing to a UK green economy. This is therefore an opportunity for you to be a key player in a team at the very forefront of the UK’s ambitions for climate change mitigation and securing a Green Recovery from Covid-19. The forestry and wood processing sector has experienced rapid growth in recent decades, not only in the number and variety of jobs available but also its contribution to the economy and in its increasing political significance. Confor has a key role to play in supporting the future growth of the sector through attracting high-quality entrants, improving supply chain productivity, informing member’s day-to-day business decision making and supporting future investment.

Confor is seeking an ambitious and proactive individual to join a dedicated team led by the Deputy Chief Executive focussing on sector development and technical support to Confor members across the UK. You will play a key role to further develop and deliver technical services to meet Members’ needs and drive project and initiatives that will aid with the economic development of the sector across the UK.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have a proven track record of successful delivery. It is desirable to have experience in the UK forestry and wood processing industry and have a sound knowledge of the UK wood supply chain.

This is a permanent full-time post.

Location is anticipated to be Edinburgh, but this can be flexible.

Salary circa £42,000 per annum, plus 10% salary contribution to pension.
